What does the Data Storage Converter do?
It converts large storage sizes between gigabytes, terabytes, petabytes and tebibytes. It is useful for comparing drives, cloud plans and backup sizes.
Decimal versus binary units
Decimal units go up by 1,000 (1 TB = 1,000 GB). Binary units go up by 1,024 (1 TiB = 1,024 GiB). A tebibyte is about 10% larger than a terabyte, so a 1 TB drive holds roughly 0.91 TiB – the reason it can look smaller in your operating system.
